After taking classes at UofSC I began working for a large company where I gained skills in areas like pipe fitting, plumbing, welding and HVAC. In 2002, I launched my own business, Ferrous Mechanical Services and I have been working in the Columbia area and the surrounding counties of South Carolina for 20 years.
I am blessed to have many talents given to me by God. I use my skills as a “fix-it” man to provide for my family and help others. I diagnose and look at problems in a logical way that will benefit my customers. I am considered a problem solver and have been given opportunities to use these skills in private and government jobs.
With a daughter in Richland District 2, I started following and attending the school board meetings held in our district. I did not like what I saw. Lack of civility between the board members and the public has set an unwelcome tone to the meetings. There was also a lack of unity between the members of the board and the superintendent on deciding how to run our schools successfully.
I soon told my wife that I would like to run for a seat on the school board and provide service to my community.
Richland County district 2 schools deserve the best representation from their school board members. I would like to be one of them. I will listen to the issues brought up by students, teachers and parents. I will be transparent in my ideas. I will work civilly and professionally with the members of the school board. I will study and work hard to provide solutions for the problems and concerns in the school district. I will be a positive change for our schools.
I offer myself up to be a part of the solution and a part of a new era as a trustee on the Richland District 2 School Board. And era of competence, communication and care!
